and the Northeast Ohio Student Showcase

Across the Playhouse Square District

A fun-filled day of dance for the whole family to enjoy!

Starting at 10 am, take part in more than 12 free classes for all ages and abilities in dance styles including Contemporary, Ballet, Pilates, African Drum & Dance, Hip Hop and more. Community Dance Day is a wonderful time to try out the art form of dance and its many styles and celebrate movement together.

Then, at 3 pm, come see a wonderful free dance performance featuring some of Northeast Ohio's best local youth dancers in Playhouse Square's Allen Theatre! This showcase provides local dance students with a professional performance experience in an iconic Playhouse Square theatre. The showcase will display a wide range of dance styles and will feature the highest caliber of student performers and choreographers from across Northeast Ohio. Tickets will be general admission.

Community Dance Day Schedule

Beginner/Community Classes

All Ages and Abilities Welcome

10 am - 11:15 am:

• Beginner Contemporary/ FOCO TECHNIQUE™ with Grace Whitworth of YY Dance Company in the Gund Dance Studio
• Family Dance (toddlers welcome) with Regina Pietraroia in the Westfield Insurance Studio Theater
• Pilates with Callie Yadgar of Callie's Pilates in the Playhouse Square Helen Theatre

11:30 am - 12:45 pm:

• Beginner Hip Hop/Groove with Cho Knight of 10K Movement in the Gund Dance Studio
• Dance For Every Body- an Adaptive Dance Class with Sara Lawrence Sucato of Dancing Wheels in the Westfield Insurance Studio Theater
• Stepping with Ron’Dale Simpson of Blakk Jakk Dance Collective in the Playhouse Square Helen Theatre

1 pm - 2:15 pm:

• Traditional West African with Talise Campbell of Djapo Cultural Arts Institute in the Gund Dance Studio

• Beginner Flamenco with Alice Blumenfeld of Abrepaso Flamenco in the Westfield Insurance Studio Theater
• Dancing with MrTonyFresh in the Playhouse Square Helen Theatre

*Adaptive movement instruction will also be provided by Dancing Wheels for Beginner Contemporary and Flamenco.

Intermediate/Advanced Level Classes

Designed for ages 14 and up with dance experience

10 am - 11:30 am:

• Advanced Musical Theatre with Lauren Marousek in the Playhouse Square Green Rehearsal Hall
• Advanced Ballet with Christina Lindhout in the Playhouse Square Red Rehearsal Hall

12 - 1:30 pm:

• Advanced Jazz with Heidi Glynias in the Playhouse Square Green Rehearsal Hall

• Advanced Contemporary/FOCO TECHNIQUE™ with Grace Whitworth of YY Dance Company in the Playhouse Square Red Rehearsal Hall

Rain Announcement:

We will be dancing rain or shine! Attention Community Dance Day Participants: Due to the rainy forecast for Saturday, all Plaza classes including Pilates, Stepping and Dancing with Tony Fresh will take place in the indoor, Helen Theatre at Playhouse Square . The address for the Helen Theatre is: 1501 DODGE COURT CLEVELAND, OHIO 44114The entrance to The Helen, named in honor of Helen Rosenfeld Lewis Bialosky, can be found at Dodge Court and East 15th Street, between the Hofbrauhaus and the Playhouse Square parking garage. There also is an entrance off the KeyBank Concourse connecting the Playhouse Square garage to the theaters. This black box theater will serve as our rain location for all Plaza activities. We hope that everyone can still join us.
