Hélène Simoneau is a French-Canadian choreographer exploring themes of intimacy, agency, identity, sexuality, and power. Rooted in form, her movement is created in reverence to its lineage yet subverts tradition by proposing new ways ways of being within dance.
During this free program, Hélène and her dance artists will showcase excerpts of movement seen in the company's repertory as well as movement that she will be exploring for possible new works while doing research and creative exploration at NCCAkron the week of March 4th. During this event, audience members will hear her explain her creative process, gain a deeper understanding of her company and dance history and be able to ask questions. Hélène will walk people through how she makes dances to give them an insiders view of the choreographic process.
Thank you to The City of Cuyahoga Falls and Collide:Cuyahoga Falls for partnering on this presentation.
