About The Instructor:

Lauren Stenroos is currently a founding company dancer in her tenth season with Cleveland Ballet under the artistic direction of Timour Bourtasenkov. Born in Akron, Ohio, she began her training under Nan and Mia Klinger at the Cuyahoga Valley Youth Ballet. She attended summer intensives at Chautauqua Institution, Richmond Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, University of Akron Dance Institute, and Cleveland San Jose Ballet.

She graduated from Mercyhurst University with a B.A. in Dance with a Music Composition Minor, studying with Tauna Hunter and Michael Gleason. She has also trained with Lesley Bories-Scalise, Sallyann Mulcahy, and Pamela Pribisco.

Lauren has danced professionally with Cleveland Ballet, Dayton Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Lake Erie Ballet, James Sewell Ballet, Ballet Montana, and Texture Contemporary Ballet.

At Cleveland Ballet she has originated many principal and soloist roles in the repertoire. She has enjoyed dancing Russian Girl in George Balanchine’s Serenade, Woodland Glade Fairy in Robert Weiss’s Sleeping Beauty, Sugarplum Fairy, Dewdrop, and Lead Arabian in The Nutcracker, Swanilda in Ramon Oller’s Coppelia, Hipployta in Ramon Oller’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Queen of Hearts in Margo Sappington’s Alice, Queen of the Dryads in Don Quixote, Ilya Jivoy’s Symphony of Life, and many other neoclassical ballets. In addition to still dancing in the company, Lauren has taught Pilates and conditioning, assisted in resetting several ballets, and helped with certain rehearsals and company class.

Lauren has served on the faculty at many ballet schools across Northeast Ohio, including The Academy of Cleveland Ballet, Canton Ballet, Wayne Center for the Arts, Nan Klinger Excellence in Dance, Baldwin Wallace Community Arts School, Beck Center for the Arts, and has guest taught for artEmotion’s Cleveland Intensive, Ashland Regional Ballet, University of Akron Dance Institute, and many other local schools.

Lauren is a certified Pilates Instructor on the mat and reformer, and recently completed her Pilates Chair certification with ballet applications through Master Trainer Alicia Head. She also composes music and has created original compositions for dance.
